An Early Birthday Celebration

We decided to have an early first birthday party for Iz a couple of weeks ago when Great, Great Aunt Jan was in town.  (She doesn't seem old enough to have two Great Greats!)

Here are some photos from this little celebration.

These are a few of my favorite things.

Oh, bother...clothes!

Now this is really something I like.  Kitty.

Hangin' with Daddy.

Ewwwwwww!

I just polished off half a cupcake...maybe a piece of birthday cake now?
After all, it is my first.

The one year cupcake.
Izzie hadn't had a chance to practice
blowing out the candle yet.
 Happy Early Birthday, Little Izzie.....

A Little Laughter Again!

I was treated to some giggles from Izzie first thing Thursday morning.  What a treat.  While Mom was still here Izzie was very amused by something "Puppy" was saying and was giggling away.  So cute.

Friday she went to the zoo with Mom and Aunt Lindsey.  Wish I could have seen how that went.  Lots of fun firsts, with a big one coming up next month.

Mommy and Puppy...two of my favorites!

Giggles with Puppy.
What a fun way to start the day.

The Many Faces of Iz

We had some new adventures last week, the most memorable for me is that I finally got to hear this little girl laugh!  This was a first for me and something I'd been looking forward to for ten and a half months.  I heard Izzie was giggling again this past weekend...this is good.

Here are some of the many moods I saw last Thursday:

What should we do?

No, I don't want to do that right now.

Those landscaping machines are loud.

Time to chill a little.

That was a good one, Great Gram.

Yesterday's Score: 1 Little Girl = Still Standing, 2 Grandmas = Pooped Out!

Grandma came for lunch and some play time yesterday.  In the end, Izzie was still standing and Grandma and I were definitely dragging.  I don't know where that little one gets all that energy.

That little O mouth is when Izzie is making
her Curious George noise and
excited about something!

Catching some Zzzs while cuddling with her favorite ball.
Funny to see her not cozy in blankets while napping.

Grandma having fun with Izzie...and vice versa.

Now this is what I call laid back!
Time to refuel for more fun.

On the Move

Another step forward (pun intended) in Izzie's life.  She is definitely on the move now, walking from room to room on her own and precariously checking things out.  I'm sure that last part will change as we go.  I think she only crawled about four feet all day...all other movement was up on two feet.  Amazing.

Since she is walking I think she should know how to get up and down from the couch, and other similar movements, but she is apparently too young to have figured all that out yet.  She's really fun when she's not crying about the possibility of mom leaving.

Let's see...what can I do to surprise Great Gram now?

Time out for a day dream or two.

On to the big world outside of the TV room.
I like goin' where I wanna go,
doin' what I wanna do!

Just getting the hang of this poppin' thing.

Sitting Together on the Patio for the First Time

Last Thursday Izzie and I ventured out onto the patio for the first time.
It's been so cold and rainy this spring that this was our first good opportunity.
I don't have any photos from outside...Izzie was content to sit on my lap
in the rocking chair and take in the sights and sounds.

The bird feeders were about seven feet from where we sat.
After a few minutes the birds started coming to feed
and Izzie was interested in watching.

Later a chipmunk ran across the patio and it pleased me to see
that Iz was alert enough to spot it.  Not much reaction, but she saw it.

We heard lots of birds singing and other spring outdoor noises
including a lawn mower and trimmer.
Izzie also heard the FedEx truck on the next street
and was able to spot it as it went by.

She wasn't too interested in walking around on the patio.
When I took her over in the grass, she just stood there,
but she was willing to reach down and touch it after I did.
It was an interesting first time out in the back yard.

Here are a couple of photos from before we went outside.

I love this hand-me-down puppy.

Hmmmm, what should I do now?

See my buttons?
Great Gram and I have been talking about them today.
